Connecting network equipment on different floors or in separate buildings? OshawaConnect installs fibre optic cabling in Oshawa, Whitby and across Durham Region. We review the route, distance and equipment before recommending how to connect the two locations.

Links between the places your business works

  • Between floors

Connect network equipment where separate floors need a link.

  • Between suites

Review a route between offices used by the same organization, including building access and permissions.

  • Between buildings

Assess a proposed link between an office, workshop or another building on the property.

A workable route comes first

The site visit covers the two endpoints, available pathways, building access and the network equipment at each end. For an outdoor route, we need to understand the property and installation conditions before agreeing the work. We set out the proposed cabling and installation scope in a written quote.

Plan the connection and handover

We discuss when existing links can be disconnected, how the new cable will be identified and what testing is included. Spare capacity and room for future changes can be considered during planning; they depend on the agreed design.

Will fibre make our internet plan faster?

An internal fibre link connects equipment or locations. It does not change the speed purchased from your internet provider; the equipment and services at each end also matter.

Do we need fibre or regular network cable?

That depends on the distance, route, equipment and purpose of the link. We assess the job before recommending a cable type.

Can this replace a paid connection between locations?

Possibly, but it is not automatic. The locations, available route, permissions and existing service must be reviewed before making that decision.
